Jake Paul Beats Tyron Woodley via Split Decision

Image
(Image is owned by house-indoor-outdoor.com, we do not own the rights) Tyron Woodley let us all down. He was supposed to come in and show the difference between a real fighter and the YouTube fighting culture, but instead he followed the trend of all Jake Paul's opponents thus far. Before I get into if I think Jake Paul is the real deal or not, why does Woodley do this in every fight he's ever in? He talks a HUGE game and you look at the guy and go jesus christ he is ripped to shreds. How can anybody beat this guy? And on top of that he's from Ferguson, Missouri, the murder capital of the nation so he says. So in the pre fight build up I'm thinking here is the guy that Jake Paul bit off more than he can chew. A 5-time UFC Welterweight champion of the world (Bruce Buffer voice) surely has more boxing/striking skills than a guy who's been doing this for a couple years.  That assessment was vastly incorrect. Woodley simply doesn't let his hands go in any fight he...

Scratch That: The Padres Are Cooked

Image
(Image is owned by newscentermaine.com, we do not own the rights) My apologies for thinking that Cronenworth's game-tying 2 out home run meant anything for the future of the Padres season. That's on me. It has become extremely clear in the days/games after that moment that nothing has changed and that we're an injured seal in the Pacific Ocean. I had the misfortune of committing to attending every game this week versus the Dodgers. Originally when I had committed the Padres were 7-3 against them, including a series sweep in June. Wow how times have changed. The only day that we showed a bit of fight was in the 16 inning 5 hour fiasco. However, even then we simply refused to win the game. We were one sac fly or base hit away from a huge win and getting our season back on track, but no such thing ever occurred. Maddening. RESULTS from the 3-game series: 08/24- Dodgers 5 Padres 2 08/25- Dodgers 5 Padres 3 F/16 08/26- Dodgers 4 Padres 0 AJ Cassavell ⁦‪@AJCassavell‬⁩ Final: Do...

Jake Cronenworth Resuscitates the Padres Season With One Swing of the Bat

Image
(Image is from Twitter, we do not own the rights) Baseball is truly an unbelievable, unpredictable narrative. I was literally in the middle of a blog describing the end of the Padres season as we knew it. It was the same damn song and dance YET again. The Padres were getting perfect gamed by Austin Nola's younger brother Aaron up until Trent Grisham came up in the 7th and ripped a ball off of the first baseman's glove. And then with the no-hitter still in tact, Manny Machado ripped a single into center field, bringing Grisham home, and tying the game at 1 a piece. BUT of course of course, the dark cloud over this team continued and we gave up 2 runs in the following half inning. BOTH on hit by pitches with the bases loaded. Jiminy Christmas. So with the score 3-1 Phillies going into the bottom of the 9th and the Reds winning their game against the Marlins, I believed the script was written. Padres officially blow their wild card lead, lose 5 in a row, and we can abandon all ...

Washington's New Team Name Is!

Image
(Image is from Twitter, we do not own the rights) Okay! So they haven't picked it yet but here's where we're at in Washington's pro football name change situation. Important to note that currently they are the Washington Football Team which sounded ridiculous at first and now doesn't sound all that strange. This post claims that there are 3 name finalists and let's assume that Football Team is one of them since they hold that name right now. So what name would be the best moving forward? My Top 2: 1. Washington Redhogs Oh YO YEAH. Kiddin me? The freakin Redhogs are coming to town baby. That apparel would be hilariously awesome. An angry looking hog painted red, um yeah I'll take 604 shirts please. If you're a Washington fan you can't tell me you wouldn't be fired up to attend a Redhogs game. A Redhog sounds like a nasty beast willing to do whatever it takes to obtain the upper hand. And then of course the fanbase gets to wear hog noses and run ...

Untold: Malice at the Palace Review

Image
(Image is owned by tunefind.com, we do not own the rights) The newest Netflix min-doc about the most infamous brawl in sports history is officially available for consumption. I remember watching the replays on ESPN as a kid when this happened and it was by far the craziest shit I've ever seen. What's interesting is that in that era of time I immediately agreed with what the media was saying and that was that the NBA players were completely out of control and they were to blame for the insane events that unfolded that night. Now, the way sports culture has changed in the way that players have more of a voice, I see this event entirely differently. First, I have to say that although this hour long mini-doc was engaging and interesting, it didn't really add anything new to the story other than how the media and NBA treated the Pacers players in the aftermath. Which was wrong. But looking at the actual brawl, Pistons fans were the biggest disgrace in history of fanhood. Every...

What Makes Sports Special

Image
(Video is from @masonferrulli23 instagram page, we do not own the rights) This is what sports is all about. This is what's important. Mason Ferrulli is a 3 time Ependymoma brain cancer and 1 time spine cancer survivor. The joy that this special Aaron Judge card gives him and his dad is everything and more. This kid has gone through the worst of the worst and still has an incredible attitude and passion for the things he loves, card collecting being one of them.  Sports have the ability to take you away for a few seconds and have the feeling of pure bliss, no matter what you're going through. I love this kid and this video. Enjoy. -Peanut

Justin Fields Shines in Bears Debut

Image
(Image is owned by Sportscenter's Twitter, we do not own the rights) Let me preface my excitement with this, preseason football means nothing. But to say I wasn't pumped after watching Justin Fields for about 2 full quarters v. the Dolphins Saturday would be utterly obtuse. It started off pretty rough in his first two series with gaining a combined 5 yards, but after that Fields settled in and it was just beautiful. The city of Chicago is literally begging the football gods for this to work out. We have gone through so many highs and lows at the quarterback position, enough is enough. I stand by the notion that Matt Nagy could've ruined Peyton Manning's career if he had gotten his hands on him so if Fields doesn't amount to anything I'll be assigning blame almost immediately. But watching this kid play I can't help but be excited for the Bears future. He kind of reminds me of when Cedric Benson (R.I.P.) was drafted by the Bears in 2005 and he had this look...

Fernando Tatis Jr. is Not Human

Image
(Image is owned by CBS sports, we do not own the rights) The man does it again. For the third time this year, Fernando Tatis Jr. has come off of the IL and ripped a home run (he hit 2 on Sunday). The craziest part as a Padres fan is we watch this incredibly talented young player become an MVP candidate and then we get used to it. Then he gets hurt and you think it's okay we still have a really great team, I mean Tatis is amazing but we can still win..... NO. Sunday proved that he IS the team. He has the ability to take over a game like so few athletes have been able to do in the history of sports. When you think of athletes who can single handedly take over a game, you think basketball first and foremost. Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant primarily and that makes sense because in basketball you can try to score every possession if you want. Baseball is a much tougher game to take over by yourself. But not for this kid. The Padres have been in a terrible slump and as my previous blog...

Yes Padres Fans. It's Officially Time to Panic

Image
(Image owned by Padres Twitter, we do not own the rights. Results of game on 8/12/21) Sigh. Well here we are Padres fans, all joined together in a state of limbo and confusion. I keep waiting for this team to take that next leap and get closer to the Dodgers and Giants but it's just not happening. And why it isn't happening? Because we are getting embarrassed by the worst team in baseball who walked into the game undoubtedly assuming defeat. So yes, it's time to panic. Is our record good? Yes. Are we still in the lead for the second wild card spot? Yes. But we aren't playing like a team that is looking for something greater. In my opinion, at this stage in the season our attitude is one where we're scheduled to play a game and we have to play until it's over. Zero push for something greater and zero fight in games like these.  So here's how things stand currently. Kiss the division title goodbye because the Giants simply don't lose games (not the Pads ...
