Fernando Tatis Jr. is Not Human
(Image is owned by CBS sports, we do not own the rights)
The man does it again. For the third time this year, Fernando Tatis Jr. has come off of the IL and ripped a home run (he hit 2 on Sunday). The craziest part as a Padres fan is we watch this incredibly talented young player become an MVP candidate and then we get used to it. Then he gets hurt and you think it's okay we still have a really great team, I mean Tatis is amazing but we can still win..... NO. Sunday proved that he IS the team. He has the ability to take over a game like so few athletes have been able to do in the history of sports. When you think of athletes who can single handedly take over a game, you think basketball first and foremost. Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant primarily and that makes sense because in basketball you can try to score every possession if you want. Baseball is a much tougher game to take over by yourself.
But not for this kid. The Padres have been in a terrible slump and as my previous blog states it's time to panic. Not to mention getting no-hit by a dude starting his first game EVER. Nothing was going right for this team..... And insert Fernando Tatis Jr. Take a look at his stats yesterday.

The Padres won 8-2 to avoid being swept by the worst team in baseball. Tatis was responsible for HALF of the Padres runs. It's truly unbelievable. In the darkest hours that the Padres season has faced this year, one Tatis performance and immediately you think well shit if we have this guy then anything is possible. He literally can get up there with the rest of the team doing nothing and say alright fine I'll put us ahead myself. A 14 year contract isn't long enough for this absolute specimen. Lifetime contract is the only thing acceptable for a talent of this magnitude. I'm dead ass. At one point yesterday it was 2-1 Padres strictly because Tatis had 2 home runs. There's nothing more to say on the topic.
This is probably why middle aged white men are singing "Fernando by Abba" at a Padres spring training game, mid game, in March. True story.
