Justin Fields Shines in Bears Debut

Let me preface my excitement with this, preseason football means nothing. But to say I wasn't pumped after watching Justin Fields for about 2 full quarters v. the Dolphins Saturday would be utterly obtuse. It started off pretty rough in his first two series with gaining a combined 5 yards, but after that Fields settled in and it was just beautiful. The city of Chicago is literally begging the football gods for this to work out. We have gone through so many highs and lows at the quarterback position, enough is enough. I stand by the notion that Matt Nagy could've ruined Peyton Manning's career if he had gotten his hands on him so if Fields doesn't amount to anything I'll be assigning blame almost immediately.
But watching this kid play I can't help but be excited for the Bears future. He kind of reminds me of when Cedric Benson (R.I.P.) was drafted by the Bears in 2005 and he had this look on his face of pure determination and fire. That's exactly what Fields looks like out there. He has that edge of being passed up on in the draft that is fueling him to put in the work day in and day out. And he just looks the part of a confident, swaggy QB. The fact that he also runs a 4.4 and had a rushing touchdown in his debut was the cherry on top. Use those wheels kid! We still have 3 weeks left of preseason but if Fields puts up these types of numbers for the next 3 weeks it's going to be tough to keep Andy Dalton in the starting role come week #1.
There's hope in Chi-town!
