Mark Davis Strikes Gold with Las Vegas Raiders MNF Debut

(Image is owned by ESPN's instagram, we do not own the rights) WOW. What an electric end to Week 1 of the NFL season last night between the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders. It was the inaugural game (with fans in attendance) at Allegiant Stadium for the Raiders and my god was it the absolute perfect way to kick off being in a new city. There's something about the energy that Sin City brings that is unique and thus the reason why sports are beginning to find homes there. The "Black Hole" was freaking rocking all night long and virtually every time you thought the game was over, something else happened! Look, if you missed the game just know you missed out and never EVER let it happen again. The Ravens went up 3 with 37 seconds left and you would've thought that was that. Oh bummer, Derek Carr and Gruden once again lose a hard fought battle in the last seconds I guess that's just their identity... But Carr refused to lose and embrace that loser's id...

Bucs/Cowboys Kickoff the 2021 Year with Fireworks

(Image is owned by clutchpoints.com, we do not own the rights) I can't tell you how happy I am that football is back. I love this sport more than any sport that we cover here at Sports Banter and last night's game was exactly why. The super bowl defending, Tom Brady led Buccaneers were the heavy favorites coming into the night versus a Cowboys team with a lot of question marks. Most notably Dak Prescott and how he was going to perform in his first game coming back from a gruesome ankle injury. Well let's get one thing straight..... Dak can flat out BALL. He looked like a top 5 quarterback in the league last night and from watching Hard Knocks I'm becoming a Prescott guy. Why? He's an awesome leader. He takes it on his shoulders to be the guy in the locker room that says something with purpose, that calls people out when they aren't doing their job, and not in an asshole way but in a you can be so much better way. I'm not a Cowboys fan in the slightest, I t...

The Quickest Divorce in History: Mets Fans and Javy Baez

Image
(Image is owned by totalprosports.com, we do not own the rights) Yikes. My boy Javy bit off a little more than he could chew after only a month being a New York Met. With the team struggling Mets fans let the team hear it that they weren't pleased. Boos, groans, the whole nine. But that's what life in the big city is like as an athlete that plays for any New York team. They love you when you're doing well and loathe you when your struggling. This had to be a new feeling for Javy coming from my beloved Chicago Cubs where he had tremendous success during his tenure. Even during his strikeout streaks or bonehead plays, the Cubs fans were always going to show him love and equate it to "Javy being Javy". However, New York is not Chicago. He is hitting just .210 with 22 strikeouts in 62 at-bats for his new team. Not great and on top that the team has collapsed and fallen out of postseason contention. (65-67, 5.5 GB of NL East and WC #2) So during this struggle and con...
