Jake Paul Beats Tyron Woodley via Split Decision

Tyron Woodley let us all down. He was supposed to come in and show the difference between a real fighter and the YouTube fighting culture, but instead he followed the trend of all Jake Paul's opponents thus far. Before I get into if I think Jake Paul is the real deal or not, why does Woodley do this in every fight he's ever in? He talks a HUGE game and you look at the guy and go jesus christ he is ripped to shreds. How can anybody beat this guy? And on top of that he's from Ferguson, Missouri, the murder capital of the nation so he says. So in the pre fight build up I'm thinking here is the guy that Jake Paul bit off more than he can chew. A 5-time UFC Welterweight champion of the world (Bruce Buffer voice) surely has more boxing/striking skills than a guy who's been doing this for a couple years.

That assessment was vastly incorrect. Woodley simply doesn't let his hands go in any fight he's in. As the fan you're sitting there wondering when is he going to actually attack? And that's why he hasn't won his last 4 UFC fights and now a boxing match. In the 4th round I thought Woodley was finally going to turn the tides when he landed a clean shot to Paul's face and almost sent him through the ropes. But even then he didn't pounce on him, he was still carefully boxing as if that punch never landed. What are you doing Woodley? That was your shot! It really doesn't make any sense how you don't go for the knockout there and ultimately that's what would cost him the decision.

For some reason, these fights with the Paul brothers are captivating. I have no idea what it is but it's a spectacle that you want to see what happens. I continue to figure that they can't actually be good at fighting so they're going to get knocked out and then when they don't it leaves me confused. Probably more so disappointed in the UFC guys they're starting to fight. But whatever it is, it's interesting theatre. After the fight Woodley got on the mic and asked for the rematch. Nobody wants to see that big dog. Nobody. And apparently if that's going to happen Woodley has to get "I love Jake Paul" tattooed on his body somewhere. Haha how weird is this whole thing. Imagine Tyron Woodley going back to Ferguson with I love Jake Paul tattooed on his arm.

At this point of Paul's boxing career, it's clear he can beat people outside the actual sport of boxing but let's get an actual boxer in there. That's the next step I believe. The talk in the pre and post fight was that Tommy Fury (Tyson Fury's half brother) would be the next appropriate matchup. He's at the beginning of his career and has the name to draw pay-per view buys. Is he as incredible as his older brother? Not in the slightest but I think it presents interest for the fans. Whichever way Paul chooses to go, it has to be a boxer for his next fight. But give credit where credit is due. I thought he would get his ass beat by Nate Robinson and now he's going the distance and winning against a former UFC champion.
