Yes Padres Fans. It's Officially Time to Panic

Sigh. Well here we are Padres fans, all joined together in a state of limbo and confusion. I keep waiting for this team to take that next leap and get closer to the Dodgers and Giants but it's just not happening. And why it isn't happening? Because we are getting embarrassed by the worst team in baseball who walked into the game undoubtedly assuming defeat. So yes, it's time to panic. Is our record good? Yes. Are we still in the lead for the second wild card spot? Yes. But we aren't playing like a team that is looking for something greater. In my opinion, at this stage in the season our attitude is one where we're scheduled to play a game and we have to play until it's over. Zero push for something greater and zero fight in games like these.

So here's how things stand currently. Kiss the division title goodbye because the Giants simply don't lose games (not the Pads fault and it's insane to see where the Giants record is where it is).

NL WILD CARD STANDINGS

Don't get me wrong we still have time to change things around. And that's what I want, you want, the team wants, and the city wants. But somebody's gotta make shit happen! We are basically playing .500 baseball at this point and that's simply not good enough to get the home wild card game or even hold off the Reds for the #2 spot. If we do make it but end up as the #2 seed and we're playing in Los Angeles for that game LOOK OUT because Dodger Stadium is a war zone.

Update from the clubhouse: RHP Yu Darvish was removed from the game with lower back tightness.

Again, it's things like this that point to why I'm saying it's time to panic. Lower back tightness isn't the end of the world but our team needs to be trending upwards at this point in the year.... not having our M-V-P candidate and Ace trying to get healthy. It freakin stinks man. And the reason I chose the Diamondbacks loss to talk about this is because we can't afford to lose games to awful teams anymore! That's the best way (aside from beating them head on) that we would be able to catch up to the Dodgers. Maddening as a fan to get tossed around by a horrible team. Simply maddening.

I think Steve Woods says it the best here. With all the hiccups, flips, and turns, that the Padres have had this season I feel like I've been extremely positive but eventually something's got to give.
