Washington's New Team Name Is!

Okay! So they haven't picked it yet but here's where we're at in Washington's pro football name change situation. Important to note that currently they are the Washington Football Team which sounded ridiculous at first and now doesn't sound all that strange. This post claims that there are 3 name finalists and let's assume that Football Team is one of them since they hold that name right now. So what name would be the best moving forward?

My Top 2:

1. Washington Redhogs

Oh YO YEAH. Kiddin me? The freakin Redhogs are coming to town baby. That apparel would be hilariously awesome. An angry looking hog painted red, um yeah I'll take 604 shirts please. If you're a Washington fan you can't tell me you wouldn't be fired up to attend a Redhogs game. A Redhog sounds like a nasty beast willing to do whatever it takes to obtain the upper hand. And then of course the fanbase gets to wear hog noses and run amuck during the tailgate. It's a fan culture transforming name quite frankly. Get some troughs of Natty Light out in the parking lot, get some brats on the grill, and let's get this thing going.

2. Washington Armada

The name Armada sounds intense and fitting for football. Upon a google search I've nailed down that an Armada is a fleet of warships, that is badass. On a football team you have 53 guys who make the actual team and become a family in that process. It's the most beautiful part about football really. You have guys from all different backgrounds who come together in the effort to reach a common goal. Armada fits that description. One of us goes to war, we all go to war. Snuck a McGregor quote in there but that's exactly what Armada means to me.

Back to the Basics: Build the Line

If last season taught us anything, it’s that shiny objects i.e. Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen, & D’Andre Swift, are not enough to build sustainable success around. The big men in the trenches may not get the shine or glory, but they are what makes the wheel turn. In Caleb Williams rookie season, he was sacked 68 times which ties David Carr for the 3rd most ever in an NFL season. This is not a new concept to the Bears shortcomings as previous QB Justin Fields was sacked 55 times just 2 years ago in only 15 games played. The Padres Mess

(photo is owned by 97.3 The Fan, we do not own the rights) If you would've told me on opening day that on 8/2 the Padres would be 53-55, 8.5 games out of 1st, and 5 games out of the last wild card spot, it would not have computed in my optimistic Padres fan brain.
