The Quickest Divorce in History: Mets Fans and Javy Baez

Yikes. My boy Javy bit off a little more than he could chew after only a month being a New York Met. With the team struggling Mets fans let the team hear it that they weren't pleased. Boos, groans, the whole nine. But that's what life in the big city is like as an athlete that plays for any New York team. They love you when you're doing well and loathe you when your struggling. This had to be a new feeling for Javy coming from my beloved Chicago Cubs where he had tremendous success during his tenure. Even during his strikeout streaks or bonehead plays, the Cubs fans were always going to show him love and equate it to "Javy being Javy". However, New York is not Chicago. He is hitting just .210 with 22 strikeouts in 62 at-bats for his new team. Not great and on top that the team has collapsed and fallen out of postseason contention. (65-67, 5.5 GB of NL East and WC #2)

So during this struggle and consistent losing, Baez and Lindor started doing this thumbs down gesture whenever they would do something well. These gestures have become common place in the game and can mean just about anything. Really it's a camaraderie with the boys type of thing. The CRUCIAL mistake Javy made was being honest with what that symbol means. (See below)

(Palm to face) Javy...... you didn't have to tell the truth about what that meant my man. I get it's frustrating to have your own fan base let you hear it when the team is doing bad, but verbally sticking it to them isn't the move. I actually feel bad for Javy because I don't think he realized the reaction he was going to receive by expressing that he doesn't like the Mets fans being anti-Mets. When in reality, if you tell New York people they can't boo you for being awful then that will only add gasoline to the fire. Not only that, but the Mets president came out and sided with the fans! Haha what a mess this organization is.

Nothing like the front office and players not being on the same page PUBLICLY. Textbook Mets stuff right here. But it ain't all that bad Javy, you have one month left in a Mets uniform and then you'll be a free agent. It's safe to assume that when you're name is announced in the home ballpark and you're booed emphatically like this then you most likely won't be returning the following year. The content the Mets provide is truly unlike any other baseball team.

At least DeGrom is healthy. Wait........
