NBA 2021 Draft Review (Top 10)

NBA Draft Selections (Top 10)

1. Detroit Pistons- PG Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma St.)
2. Houston Rockets- SG Jalen Green (NBA G League Ignite)
3. Cleveland Cavaliers- C Evan Mobley (USC)
4. Toronto Raptors- SF Scottie Barns (Florida State)
5. Orlando Magic- SG Jalen Suggs (Gonzaga)
6. OKC Thunder- SG Josh Giddey (Austrailia)
7. Golden State Warriors- PF Jonathan Kuminga (Congo)
8. Orlando Magic- SF Franz Wagner (Michigan)
9. Sacramento Kings- PG Davion Mitchell (Baylor)
10. New Orleans Pelicans- SG Zaire Williams (Stanford)

Favorite Picks:
  • Cade Cunningham- 6'8 Point Guard was a no brainer to be selected 1st overall. With Detroit basically starting from scratch, this is the type of guy you can build around going forward. He has all the moves that a natural scorer needs to have to be successful in the NBA. He also seems very mature for a Rookie which I think will pay dividends as he continues to grow and understand the NBA game. If you're a Pistons fan, that's an easy jersey purchase.
  • Jalen Suggs- Was projected to go 1 spot earlier to the Raptors but ends up going #5 to the Magic. I like dudes that are just straight ballers. Suggs was Mr. Football in the state of Minnesota coming out of high school as well, so the freak athlete component is there. He strikes me as an ultra competitor and the Raptors passing up on him is going to give him that chip on his shoulder he needed to push him in this league.
Least Favorite:
  • Davion Mitchell- I want to make this clear. I love Davion Mitchell himself. He is an absolute dog. I especially love the way this kid plays relentless defense. He was the key leader on the Baylor team who just won the National Championship as well so he is a high character guy as well. However, I don't like him going to Sacramento where DeAaron Fox is already the main guy. The Kings don't have a great track record of developing guys and I feel like they draft the best available guy over what they need. So finding his role on this team is going to be interesting to watch. My prediction is that he may just have to play for a different franchise to reach his potential, which I believe is high.
  • Franz Wagner- The younger brother of Mo who is currently on the Washington Wizards. I think this kid is the most overhyped kid in the entire draft. My analysis is he is a big guard and that's why teams like him. From watching him personally last year, he never wowed me in the slightest and in fact found myself saying this guy is a top 10 prospect? He's not a great shooter and is going to definitely struggle on a Magic team that doesn't have an identity or star veteran talent to take the pressure off of him. I think he'll be a 7 points and 5 rebounds a game type of guy in the NBA. Definitely not #8 worthy
